The foundation of the diet is that when a person eats too many bad carbohydrates it creates an insulin resistance problem, which means the body has a tough time controlling fat and sugar in the body. The 1st phase concentrates on eliminating the foods that cause insulin resistance in the body including dairy, sugar, candy, bread, potatoes, fruit, cereals, and grains. This phase lasts 2 weeks and in this time the body is claimed to lose its insulin resistance and start to use the surplus body fat which has been stored. To make eating simpler there are now pre-packaged South Beach Diet foods that will permit you to simply heat up the foods and eat, without considering good taxis and fats. The dieter won't include 3 servings of full grains and fruit each day but the individual will concentrate on good carbs and good fats rather than bad taxis and bad fats. The dieter will continue to eat more healthily and if they begin to gain weight they can simply revert back to either phase one or 2. The concept "The dieter" is upkeep in phase 3, to simply maintain the achieved goal weight, which isnt typically awfully hard when one has grasped the concept of what the healthy foods are. |
